 Preschool Lead Teacher (REV 9/2024)

 

Pay Rate: $17.00/hr.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and implements daily lesson plans and ensures high-quality interaction with preschool children. Get Children Ready for Kindergarten!
  • You will teach in 1 classroom (Head Start/ ECE half-day teachers have 2 groups- am/pm)
  • Experience with Creative Curriculum preferred; strong familiarity with lesson planning incorporating all domains of the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and emotionally supportive environment that is conducive to learning and is centered on the needs and abilities of the children
  • Completes developmental screenings (ASQSE2, ASQ3R) & assessments (ELA, GOLD)
  • Provides Referrals to families as needs are identified in children; works as part of a team to plan for identified services.
  • Maintains documentation for services provided, progress reports, and attendance
  • Works as a leader and part of a preschool team with classroom Teacher Assistants, Center staff and the Director
  • Builds positive relationships with families, and communicates regularly with families
  • Participates in staff meetings, conferences, professional development, and Horizon support meetings as required by position
  • Head Start Position: Follow Head Start requirements and responsibilities such as bi-annual home visits

 

YOU are required to meet minimum performance standards which include meeting timelines.

 

  1. Developmental Screenings & Timely Referrals (Pre, Mid-year and Post) 
  2. Lesson Plans with an Individualized Focus 
    1. Use Creative Curriculum with Fidelity, Heggerty, Read it Again and other curriculum supports appropriately. 
  3. Documentation of Learning 
    1. GOLD checkpoints 3 times each year (Fall, Winter, Spring) 
    2. On-line GOLD Portfolios (For Each Child) 
    3. Antidotal notes (2 per Child/week across all learning areas) 
  4. Family Communication 
    1. In-Person Conferences w/goal sheets (Winter, Spring)
    2. Head Start Teachers are required to do 2 home visits per year 
    3. Transition Plans (Summer/Fall and Kindergarten)  
    4. Troubleshooting issues, as needed 
    5. Support children with identified needs
  5. Professional Development 
    1. GOLD, Creative Curriculum, Heggerty and interrater reliability and other curriculum supports 
    2. Early Learning Content Standards 
    3. Early Learning Assessment  
    4. Screening Tools 
    5. All other CENTERrequired PD 
  6. Attend required monthly TEAM(plan and attend) and Center
  7. Complete ALL requirements for grants attached to the center- UPK, Pre4Cle, ECE, and Head Start.  

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in ECE or related field, and be qualified to teach preschool
  • Experience in a preschool classroom setting
  • Level 3 CPL  (occrra.org for more information about CPL)
  • Willingness to update job knowledge with required ODJFS Licensing Rules and SUTQ professional development opportunities and industry trends
